Chef Emily Mauldin

From an early age, I have had a deep appreciation for the culinary arts. Growing up, I sought out cooking however I could—watching reruns of The French Chef and spending my free time scouring the aisles of the grocery store for “research and development.” I spent my childhood in Texas before attending high school in Connecticut, earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tulane in New Orleans, and later a master’s in Leadership for Creative Enterprises from Northwestern in Chicago.

Studying in these American culinary hubs—and traveling to other cities around the globe—I became deeply inspired by local cuisines and our connection to the planet through the food we eat every day. After graduation, I worked in media and technology before being unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer at age 25. That experience forced me to rethink everything, including my career.

After being declared cancer-free, I came across a journal entry I had written in third grade that said, “If I could do anything when I grow up, I want to cook.” That discovery reignited my passion and motivated me to hone my skills as a self-taught cook and finally pursue my true calling.

To me, every meal is an opportunity to live in the moment and feel a sense of awe. I’m absolutely honored to be doing what I love as a Seattle-based Personal Chef with Honest to Goodness. I aim to bring a sense of connection, creativity, health, and care to your table for your weekday dinners and dinner parties — just as I do at mine.
